This is still that part of the year 2020, where social distancing and Covid-19 is around. Here my friend had a task to pick an iPad for his office work from his colleague, who lives near Srivilliputhur. So, he asked me if I could join him in the journey, so that task can be done along with a temple visit. As any one expected, I said yes. It’s so long I have met him, and also it’s so long that I have been out long with friends.

So, the journey started with 2 friends, Soundar and Senthil, in the early morning and reached the destination around 8'ish. As soon as we found a nice parking spot and got down, we saw this guy, giving us the parking token lol. I wonder where was this guy, when we were looking for parking for 15 minutes before this moment.

I noticed this peculiar structure just opposite to where we parked. As I moved closer, I read that it’s built by Nayakar and it’s none other than Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal. There is a famous palace built by Thirumalai Nayak in Maduai and this also has the same architectural style.

Winter season: what is it?

As my dad had already come to Srivilliputhur many times for his work in his early days, he knew everything about this place, right from where to eat, what to eat and where to park. So, he suggest this place Hotel Kathiravan for breakfast. When I told my friend, surprisingly he also knew this place. Later I came to know that, it’s very famous that, anyone travels in this road, will stop here at-least for a coffee.

My parents has seen even Mr. SukiShivam here eating at this hotel. It’s that ‘celeb level’ famous.

So, If you travelling to Srivilliputhur or any part of this road, eat here. Vada tasted so so good here. Also Chutney. Also coffee. Also pongal. Also everything.

This is that Nayank Mahal inside. Due to Covid, I believe this is closed, as it comes under recreation tourism. So, I put my gopro inside the gate and got some photographs. Those pillars are exactly looking like that Madurai palace ones.

Ok, remember the iPad work, my friend has. So, he walked out to take care of it and I and my another friend here taking some shots around temple.

Enough GoPro, let me take my DSLR as well to take some beautiful shots of Temple GoProm.

Do you notice the cloud formation along with the gopram?

This is the default confusion in India that whether camera will be allowed inside the temple or not. As we expected, a lady cop stopped us from taking the camera inside. We requested that we will keep camera inside, will not take it out. After some confusion, she let us in. Pretty sure that she was unsure of rules. We know “with great power comes, great responsibility”. But do you know that

power is only determined by what you need to be responsible for?

But, when we go in, we found that, there many wedding happening on that day, it was heavily crowded and we saw so many wedding photographers and videographers are recording everything inside the temple. We wondered why did they stop us?

As we walk it, this ray of light. I don’t think any one will miss this to take a shot. I picked out my mobile and took some satisfying shot.

At this point, I even picked out my GoPro, took good number of photographs inside the temple. yes, I respected the people privacy and did not take shot of god and idols.

At this point, I even clicked selfie for the memory. you can notice that the darshan is over by looking at our foreheads.

After this temple visit, we did not want just to end the day like this, we wanted to explore some lush areas. Previous day, when I explored for a small trek or waterfalls around this area, I found that, there is a place called katalagar temple, which has a temple and waterfall along with a nice trek. Finger crossed that if it’s allowed now or not. But, still we wanted to to give it a try. That part of journey is in another blog.

Time passes and it’s almost the end of the day 4ish around — we were roaming around the temple to grab few things for our homes, such as, Palcova — the famous sweet here.

Do you see the moon?

All things for home is packed, ready to return, just while waiting for others, I was trying this street shot with subject. When I reduced the shutter speed to see if the subject blurs. And I also tried to keep the subject sharp and background blur.
