Don’t miss Uvari in your Thiruchendur & Kanyakumari trip
The plan is to visit Thiruchendur main temple and Kanyakumari main temple. Since it’s the temple visit, I took only my GoPro to document everything.
The period is covid-19 and not everyone has the guts to visit temples, although it is allowed by government now. But, my family decided to do it, because my dad wanted it so much.
Rule: Shirt is not allowed but mask is must
Darshan is done and while my family is doing some shopping, I picked a vantage point for good street shot and I hope I got some.
After the shopping, decided to wet the legs at beach. But, before there is an important spot — fresh water well. We wanted to go there first.
After Hyderabad’s Chowmahala’s symmetry perspective, this is the longest symmetry, I am seeing it.
Finally after a long walk, we reached the place. It seemed too much deserted. We initially thought, it’s not allowed. Later found that, no one cares about this place now and it’s free to see from above. We did not know if fresh water is actually coming. So, we just saw it, recollected the older memories of taking fresh water bath and left the place sadly.
In this entire trip, so many people, were asking for money. Not only homeless, even the servants inside the temple. I am not complaining. This covid situation affected them a lot. So, my dad, changed his Rs.500 in to many Rs.10, gave it to as many people we could. At-least, we are in a situation to give it now.
So, even after giving, I asked if I could take a photo of him, as he looked too authentic to me. He gave me the most genuine pose.
Although the covid situation put many people to misery, but it cleaned the environment. You can see how clean is the beach. If you could touch it, you would feel even better. It’s so thin grains.
We tried to spend some time at beach, as we wanted to feed my son. But, the cops had different plan. One cop came to us, with utmost RAGING anger, and said
evolo kathu kathroom, kaadhu kekalaya?
which means, can’t you hear, we have been shouting? He forced us to leave the place from beach. We honestly did not hear anything about the cops asking to leave or any warning signs.
So, we left the place and moved to next temple called — Kulasegara perumal. You can see my boy battery down!
Not much to talk about the temple. It’s indeed famous for Navarathiri but the temple is filled with lots and lots of beggars. We found it disturbing even to sit for a bit.
So, we started our way to Kanyakumari. But, we made a decision to check UVARI temple, which was the best decision of the day. Although the time is around 2 o clock, although we know that temple could be closed, we wanted to check out the temple, but what we found behind temple, put us the best moments of the day.
This is the empty madapam and we knew that temple is closed. We went ahead and check the beach. But, we found nice pond with fresh clean water, where you could see floor. We noticed the area kids were catching fishes.
Asked this kid for a photograph, don’t know what he thought, he started running all of a sudden.
We slowly approached the beach and the beach is deserted — I mean the word deserted. Look at the sands in roads, isn’t reminding the banger photographs from DUBAI?
IMPORTANT: If you are on the way between thiruchendur or kanyakumari, you must visit this place, before this gets famous. This beach is so clean. I mean, check the next photographs.
Do I need to say anything?
We spent the awesome 2 hours of the day at that beach and we reached Kanyakumari very late. As we know it’s late for lunch food at hotel, we picked this super big restaurant. But, the receptionist said,
no food sir! (in a 5 star tone)
I told myself
This is not SANGAM, this is BANGAM!
We found some decent meals and went to the famous Kanyakumari Mukuthiamman temple. To our surprise, no one was there. I mean no one. I know it’s corona, but it’s Saturday evening 5:00PM.
Small backstory: Mukuthiamman — Mukuthi means nose ring. This amman has the most brightest diamond nose ring. Legend says britishers mistook this brightness for a light house. It’s that bright. I saw it in real, it was indeed JOLICHING!
After the temple visit, planned to spend the evening at beach. It was planned, it was planned to finish the temple works before sunset and witness the most epic sunset at Kanyakumari.
Kanyakumari is the only place — you could witness both sunrise and sunset. The city is at south most part of India — with U shaped map. So, in both ends, you could see sun rise/set. The following photograph east and west.
I am sorry, I could not capture this beauty. I am not exaggerating. When I first saw this, it was from a narrow path, this structure was not visible at all. And when I came out of that narrow path, while I did not expect any of such thing in a sea, I witnessed this so big 2 rocks, one with a massive Thiruvalluvar statue.
While sunset, if you prefer to see this side, you could see beautiful blue clouds with yellow light falling on the massive Thiruvalluvar statue. One of the most beautiful moments — I guarantee it.
Then at 5:45PM, we wanted to move to the sunset spot and checkout the sunset. It was a cloudy day, we could not see the sun setting. But look at the place, it has theatrical arrangement just to see a sun set. If every-time the world showed importance to such things, world would be peaceful.
Picture of my mom and dad, then me :)
